Kyperounta Troodos mountain house Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Kyperounta Troodos mountain house, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from a three-star place tucked away in this tiny Cypriot village. But you know what? Sometimes the most unassuming spots turn out to be the real gems. This mountain retreat sits right in the heart of Kyperounta, and I mean that literally — you’re surrounded by traditional stone houses and locals who still wave at strangers walking by.
The Mountain Village Setting
Kyperounta itself is one of those places most tourists never hear about, which is actually perfect if you’re trying to escape the beach crowds in Limassol. The village is perched at about 1,100 meters up in the Troodos Mountains, so the air is crisp and cool even in summer — such a relief after the coastal heat. I spent hours just wandering the narrow streets, discovering little kafeneia where old men play backgammon and argue about politics. The property’s location really is something special; you can walk to the village center in two minutes, but step outside at night and you’ll see more stars than you knew existed.
The Accommodation Experience
My room was simple but genuinely comfortable — clean mountain air flowing through the windows, traditional Cypriot furniture that actually felt authentic rather than touristy. The house has this lived-in quality that makes you feel like you’re staying with distant relatives rather than in a commercial hotel. There’s no fancy spa or elaborate restaurant, but honestly, that’s not what you come here for. What you get instead is peace, quiet, and the kind of genuine hospitality that’s becoming rare these days.
Local Flavors and Daily Life
Breakfast happens in a cozy common area where you’ll likely end up chatting with other guests — I met a German couple who’d been coming back for five years straight. The food is straightforward Cypriot fare: fresh bread, local honey, village cheese, and coffee strong enough to wake the dead. For dinner, you’ll want to explore the village tavernas (the owners will point you in the right direction), where portions are generous and prices are refreshingly reasonable compared to the coast. The traditional mountain cuisine showcases local ingredients and time-honored recipes passed down through generations.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. Couples seem to particularly appreciate the romantic isolation — no crowds, no noise, just mountain views and each other’s company. The parking is easy (a blessing in Cyprus), and you’re perfectly positioned to explore the Troodos region’s hiking trails, wineries, and painted churches. I actually extended my stay by two nights because leaving felt premature. Sometimes what you need is authenticity, and Kyperounta Troodos mountain house delivers that in spades with its genuine mountain hospitality.

We LOVED this house! It is in a perfect location to explore the beautiful Troodos area, it is warm, clean, cozy and inviting with plenty of space and everything we could ever need on a holiday. All the extra touches (wine, sweets and the beautiful festive decorations) made it even more memorable. Communication was quick and excellent as well. I travel a lot but it is rare to be so well taken care of. I will be recommending the house to everyone I know.

We stayed here for two weeks in November and really loved it. We are seasoned, frequent travellers and have stayed in sdozens of privately hosted homes all over the world, but hands down, Kiryakos and his wife were the kindest, most attentive hosts we have ever had. They left all sorts of goodies for us-cakes, cookies, chocolate, wine, Cyrprus grappa etc. and made sure we were comfortable. They couldn't do enought for us. They had the entire place beautifully decorated for Christmas, which was especially nice. The house is huge, with a very large very well stocked kitchen, excellent showers, one large and one smaller bedroom (the bed in the smaller room was more comfortable) with tons of storage space, extra blankets, pillows, linens, towels etc. We felt completely at home there. It was warm, cosy and very comfortable. When we had a little bit of trouble with the heating, Kiryakos responded immediately. We personally loved the location, because we wanted to explore all the lovely little villages and churches in the Troodos mountains, and being central, it was only about an hour or so to the coast and the archeological atttractions there. If you crave the excitement of city life, this probably isn't your spot, but if you enjoy wineries, picturesque small villages, breath-taking mountain scenery and a quiet retreat, this is a great place to base yourself. Kiryakos gave us all sorts of tips and suggestions for things to see and do. . All in all it was a fantastic two weeks and we were sad to bid goodbye.

The house is beautiful from the inside and even more from the outside – so many flowers! It is well equipped. The location is great for exploring the trodos mountains – assuming you have a car. And the hosts are very friendly! They even provided some fruits and cakes – and wine!
It was a bit cold in late October, but the house has good central heating, and extra blankets for the night. There are even electric sheets, but we didn't use them.Ran from Israel (10/10)
Beautiful place, great location and AMAZING hosts!
We were a couple on vacation to Trodos mountain area and picked this place and we couldn't be happier with our choice.
The location is great as every major Attraction in the area is a short drive away, and you get a beautiful view with a quiet environment.
The house was clean and cozy, well equipped and we cooked multiple meals and had everything we needed, we were a couple but definitely the house could fit more guests.
The real highlight though was definitely our hosts, as they were just lovely, sweet and very helpful, we could really tell they wanted to do anything to make sure we are having an amazing time!
They took care of every little thing we needed, and helped us with recommendations for things to see in the area, couldn't have asked for better hosts than this.
If you are planning a trip to the trodos Mountains and are looking for a home in the region , that has everything you need, this is definitely the right decision to make.
(Plus the balcony is BEAUTIFUL!!!)Kevin from Belgium (10/10)
This house is a little gem up in the mountains. Spacious, comfortable, clean. You really feel at home from the moment you arrive. We didn’t get to meet the host, but he was nevertheless incredibly hospitable and attentive.

It was the best accommodation experience I had in Cyprus, and one of the best in many years of travel. A beautiful house, inside and out, very spacious bedrooms, living room and kitchen, very well maintained and unbelievably clean.
The attention to details and all the nice refreshments (fruits, wine, coffee, home-made cake and more) made it very clear that the owners really care.
The hosts were very friendly helpful and kind. Overall a perfect experience.Elie from Cyprus (10/10)
We recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful home, and it exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed by the amazing hosts.
The home itself is beautiful—spotlessly clean, well-maintained, and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The facilities are top-notch, making it easy to relax and enjoy every moment. The location is also fantastic, offering easy access to local attractions while still providing a peaceful and quiet retreat.
We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The attention to detail and the genuine care shown by the hosts made this stay truly memorable.
I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a perfect getaway.
